William "Bruce" Williams
Apr 16, 2018Harmony Community near Athens, died Thursday morning, March 15, 2018, at his home.He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late John Ferguson and Kathleen Damaris Hicks Williams. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty W. Moore, and brothers, Cecil and Harry Lee Williams.He attended Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. He was a well-known farmer, carpenter, and owner of Bruce Williams Construction Company.He is survived by his best friend, Pat Dougherty Dodez of Athens; one daughter, Janet Rene' Williams of Englewood; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Stanley Bruce Williams and Sue Kowaski of Hawaii, and Stephen Douglas Williams of Athens; two grandchildren, Ashley Brown and Joshua Casteel; two sisters, Kathryn Williams and Jane W. (Lynn) Glass, both of Athens; one brother, Roy C. (Eula) Williams of Decatur; one sister-in-law, McRae Williams of Athens; and one brother-in-law, Don Moore of Riceville.A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Harmony Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Smith Funeral Home.Pallbearers will be Lowry Dougherty, Blan Dougherty, Donnie Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, Randy Reynolds, and Dale Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Moore and Vearl Reynolds.The family suggests memorials be made to Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 130 Co.
